Finally some good news for the 63% of unemployed youth who benefit from the R350 special grant in South Africa.
In a press statement by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) on July the 29th 2022, it was announced that approximately 5 298 817 SRD grant applications had been approved, and over 4 088 873 of those applicants have already received their payments.
The R350 SRD grant is such an essential assistance for the unemployed to afford their very basic needs.
SASSA said that the high unemployment rate in South Africa is a huge concern as approximately 60% of the R350 SRD grant applicants are youth and sadly 5% of them are tertiary graduates.
SASSA aims to increase the number of approved applications and thus they made amendments to the qualifying criteria from a maximum income of R624 to R350 acceptable income.
