How to Change Phone Number
Most applicants tend to struggle to update their SRD grant phone numbers.
You can change your phone number by accessing the SRD website, and by entering your grant application ID and South African ID number.
In the next screen, you'll be given the opportunity to update the phone number and email address for future communications from SASSA.
Alternative Income Source Identified
SASSA has identified an alternative income consistently being paid into your grant application bank account. These can be from your parents or friends which disqualifies you from the SRD grant because you have the means to get support higher than the minimum threshold.
How long does the SASSA SRD appeal take?
According to SASSA, the R350 grant application appeal process can take between 60 to 90 days. The process is handled by an Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals will investigate the appeal and ensure no information is missed by SASSA.
When will the SRD R350 Grant end?
The SRD grant has been extended again, until March 2025.

The R350 monthly grant, which was implemented in 2020, came into existence as a temporary provision to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on low-income South Africans.
How to Report SRD Grant Fraud for Common Scams
Should you suspect any type of scam or fraud on your SRD Grant, you must report it to SASSA immediately by calling the toll-free number on 0800 60 10 11 or 013 574 9428/9363.
It's also important to share your story with friends and family to educate and raise awareness so that they too, don't fall into the same scam.
Phone number change failed
So you've attempted to change your cellphone number but got a failed response from SASSA? This could possibly be due to the missing identification documents whereby you'll need to visit the SASSA branch for a biometric verification of the ownership of the grant.
